Unfortunately injuries and unexpected issues are apart of everyone’s life…. Recently I had shoulder spasms that involved a visit to the emergency room and an awful reaction to a pain medication. I want to share some tips to help you rehab from your next injury the best way possible!
The first tip I have is to tell your physical therapist and caregiver the first time you feel the pain. Don’t try to just “power through” the pain because this may lead to a more serious problem. If you are able to treat the injury the first time you feel pain with ice and medication, it will more than likely decrease the amount of time it will take for the injury to fully heal!
The second tip I have is to follow the directions from your physical therapist and doctor completely! Do not try to do more than what they tell you to do. This may lead to further injuring the muscle, and increase the amount of time to rehab. When I was younger, I was always tempted to try to rush my rehab program, so I could get back to normal, which never ever ended positively for me…
The third tip I have is when in doubt use ice! When you think you may have a muscle injury, ALWAYS use ice! Ice will never further injure the muscle, unlike heat, which may actually cause the injured muscle to spasm…
Hopefully these tips will help you quickly rehab from your next injury! Thanks for reading!
