Quarantine Update : Six Months Later

It’s been awhile since my last post, so I wanted to give an update on my physical fitness journey in the midst of this COVID-19 pandemic. It has been six months since I have been able to swim or have a physical therapy session. Like many of you, I have been cooped up in my house since March. I had to cancel my botox injections scheduled for this summer due to the pandemic as well. Fortunately, I have not lost any function in my body, and let me tell you how I have been able to stay functional during this unprecedented time.

One of the main things that has helped me during this pandemic is my Soloflex vibration platform. I use it once a day before my first workout, and I believe that it has helped my body stay functional. Despite not being able to swim, I have not experienced as much of a dip in my overall cardiovascular shape as I expected to have. I have not changed the settings on the platform since I have not been able to see my physical therapist.

Another strategy that has helped me during this pandemic is being dedicated to doing my workout program twice a day every day. While it is sometimes tempting to skip a workout program every now and then, I believe that working out twice a day has undoubtedly helped me maintain most of my muscle strength and looseness through this pandemic. I realize that finding the motivation to workout twice a day is difficult, especially during a stressful time like this, but I believe that maintaining your workout schedule will not only help your physical health, but also your mental health. If your body feels healthy and strong, it is likely that you will also feel not as stressed.

A third strategy that has helped me during this pandemic is being more honest with myself, my family, and friends about how I am feeling. Many of us are experiencing increased anxiety and stress during this time It is crucial that we are honest with each other about how we feel. Throughout my life, I have struggled with being transparent about how I feel or if I am anxious or not. It is important to not be embarrassed to admit if you are feeling stressed, lonely, or any other feeling that you might be experiencing. In all likelihood your friends and family are experiencing these exact same emotions. For me personally, it has undoubtedly helped to talk about how I am feeling with my friends and family.

I hope these simple tips and strategies help you during this unprecedented time. Remember that you are not alone during this time, and it is important to be honest about how you feel. Thanks for reading, stay healthy and safe!
